In the last week I have been busy preparing for my new show in The Exchange Gallery, Saffron Walden Library, which opens on Monday September 15 and is on until October 13, opening hours as the Library.
The show is titled ‘Accidental Beauties’ which, like The Hours of Healing, is a quotation from Paul Bunyan, Britten’s first opera. The prints on display are a selection from the Hours of Healing exhibition with a small exhibition to show the rest of the series.
There is no new work in the show but I know that a number of people were not able to get into Cambridge so I am happy to put on this show for local interest, and maybe to introduce more people to art inspired by Benjamin Britten’s operas!
In recent weeks I have been preoccupied with family matters but, at the same time, the ideas for my new project, a free response to my favourite bird poems, have begun to gel and I am hoping to get ink to paper before long…watch this space!
As always, if you do get to the show in Walden, please write a comment in the book…..good, bad or indifferent, we like them all…..and leave your e-mail address so that I can invite you to future printmaking events.
The image below is a detail from one of the prints……but which??
